GUITAR WORKSHOPS FOR WOMEN

The workshops offer a fun, collaborative environment where participants play music together exploring melody, bass lines, rhythm, technique, and tone whilst building confidence and expanding repertoire. Singing plays a central role, as it’s an accessible way to connect with music and cultivates a sense of community.

The material is taught by ear and will mostly be from the American folk tradition (bluegrass, old-time, country, country-jazz etc.), selected to suit all skill levels. There will be lyrics and tabs to support the sessions. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced player, the goal is to ensure everyone gains something valuable from each session and different parts will be offered to suit every level. Using a pick is encouraged but fingerpicking is also welcome.

The workshops are led by acclaimed multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Vera van Heeringen who aims to bring women together in a friendly and encouraging environment to learn, improve and be inspired.

All levels are welcome but it is advisable for complete beginners to have a few one-to-one lessons before attending a full day workshop.

Our workshop regulars often find that the sessions motivate practice and help build confidence as well as creating a space to connect within a familiar musical community.

Or feel free to try out a one-off if you are seeking a bit of fresh inspiration, a different approach to learning, or just an excuse to pick up your guitar within an encouraging environment.

Along with learning guitar, the workshops provide an opportunity to enjoy great food and company in a supportive, relaxed setting.
